Our Blue Star (OBS) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Belgium, established with the goal of supervising large scale infrastructure projects in developing countries throughout Europe and Asia with the goal of measuring their effect on the environment and ensuring their compliance with international standards.
OBS was founded 8 years ago, following the nuclear disaster in the Fukushima Prefecture,
Japan, which caused nuclear meltdowns and a release of radioactive material in the area. This and other events of this kind have been a real eye opener for the international community to the great damage that can be caused without clear standards for the measurement and enforcement of ecological practices, especially on infrastructure projects.
